Quaich or Scottish love chalice
This chalice was previously used for such a marriage blessing. By this cup to fill with liquid and turn out to drink. but was also used for family or friends to greet or say goodbye.

the quaich hails from medieval time when people were very distrustful of strangers and therefore carried their cup for fear of either poisoning or watering down of their whisky.
